Know When to Register: Examination Registration Changes Begin June 1, 2026

Beginning June 1, 2026, registration for NDEB examinations will open on different dates based on region.

Examination locations in North America will open for registration on a different day than examination locations in Australia and New Zealand.

These changes are part of several upcoming process improvements designed to enhance the registration experience, reduce wait times, and support more effective examination site planning.

Historically, many candidates have experienced long waits in the registration queue. In some cases, candidates only discover after entering seat selection that locations in Canada and the United States are full, leaving only examination sites in Australia and New Zealand. This contributes to longer wait times in the queue and delays during registration. By separating registration dates by region, candidates registering for Australia and New Zealand locations will enter the registration queue on a different day with fewer registrants, helping reduce overall wait times. Candidates seeking examination sites in Canada and the United States will also move through the registration process more efficiently as seat selection demand is distributed across separate registration periods.

We are also expecting this change to reduce examination withdrawals. By removing the ability to transfer registration from one region to another, we hope to encourage candidates to only register in a region where they intend to test. Late withdrawals and withdrawals after the registration deadline result in examination seats going unused and prevents candidates from securing a seat in a region where they want to test.

What You Need to Know

Separate Registration Dates by Region
Examination locations in North America will open for registration one week before locations in Australia and New Zealand. Registration opening dates are available on the Examination Dates and Locations page of the NDEB website.

No Transfers Between Regions
Candidates registered at examination locations in Australia and New Zealand will not be permitted to transfer to locations in Canada or the United States, and vice versa. Candidates are encouraged to carefully consider where they are able and prepared to travel before selecting an examination location.
