Dr. Sneha Abyhankar

We are pleased to introduce Dr. Sneha Abhyankar, DDS, MSc, DDPH, BDS, as the new National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) President. Dr. Abhyankar succeeds Dr. Stéfan Haas-Jean who served as President for the past two years.

An accomplished dentist, healthcare leader, educator, researcher, and community advocate, Dr. Abhyankar brings more than three decades of professional and governance experience to this role.

Dr. Abhyankar has been the NDEB Member representing the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Board since 2014. Since that time, she has served the NDEB in several leadership capacities, including as a member of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, and Chair of the By-laws Committee.

A past President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Association, she has also contributed to professional committees and initiatives including the development of a seniors’ dental health plan.

Based in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Dr. Abhyankar has operated a full-time dental practice at Humber Valley Dental Centre since 1989 and holds privileges at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Committed to her community, she has volunteered in rural dental clinics, supported international students, contributed to hospital fundraising, spoken to local elementary school students, and participated in science fairs and school breakfast programs.
