Accessibility – Statement of Commitment

 

The NDEB is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration, inclusion, and equal opportunity, and are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner.

We will work to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility and will strive to ensure that our services, communications, and facilities are accessible to all.

The NDEB is committed to complying with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its associated standards, including the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR). We will continue to develop, implement, and maintain policies and practices that support accessibility and inclusion.

We are committed to:

• Providing accessible customer service to people with disabilities.
• Communicating with people in ways that take their disability into account.
• Providing information in accessible formats and with communication supports upon request, where required.
• Ensuring that our website and web content comply with applicable accessibility standards.
• Supporting accessibility in employment practices throughout recruitment, hiring, training, accommodation, and career development processes.
• Providing accessibility training to employees, volunteers, and others as required by law.
• Reviewing our policies, practices, and procedures on an ongoing basis to improve accessibility and remove barriers.

Feedback

 

The NDEB welcomes feedback regarding accessibility and uses it to inform continuous improvement of policies, practices, and services.

Accessible Formats and Communication Supports

 

The NDEB will provide accessible formats, and communication supports on request and in a timely manner. We will consult with the person making the request to determine suitability of the format or communication support. (e.g. HTML and Microsoft Word, large print, text transcripts of visual and audio information). To make a request contact hr@ndeb-bned.ca.
