NDECC Registration Changes
Over the last year, we have been listening to feedback and suggestions from various groups about how to improve registration for the NDECC and reduce the duration of the Equivalency Process.
Earlier this year, we began collecting proof a Canadian citizenship or permanent residency from candidates. This information was being collected to help inform registration changes for NDEB examinations.
Graduates of non-accredited dental programs who have established themselves in Canada are unable to work as dentists until they complete either a degree completion program or the NDEB Equivalency Process.
To help get these dentists into practice sooner, we are moving forward with our plan to prioritize Canadian citizens and permanent residents for NDECC registration.
This change will be effective as of July 1, 2025. At that time, registration for the NDECC will happen in three
stages:
- First time NDECC candidates who received a passing result of the most recent ACJ;
- NDECC candidates who have provided evidence of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency;
- all candidates with NDECC eligibility.
We believe this change supports the commitment of candidates who have chosen Canada as their place of residence and will help get them in to practice sooner.
