Understanding Language Options for NDEB Exams: Your Guide to a Smoother Process

At the National Dental Examining Board (NDEB), we recognize the importance of offering support in both English and French to ensure that all applicants can access support and services in one of Canada’s two official languages from the start of the application process to certification. Whether you are completing an application, taking an exam, or receiving important updates, we want to make sure that the process is as seamless and accessible as possible.

Why Language Selection Matters

When you create your NDEBConnect account, one of the first steps is selecting your preferred language for both communication and exams. This choice is important because it will determine the language in which you receive all exam-related information and updates. From emails to the exam itself, your language preference ensures that the entire experience aligns with your comfort level.

How to Choose Your Preferred Language

If you are a new applicant, you will be prompted to select your preferred language when setting up your NDEBConnect account.

For those already registered for an exam, we recommend double-checking your language selection in your NDEBConnect account to confirm that it’s set according to your preference. To do this, simply log into your account and visit your profile page.

Changing Your Language Preference

Life can change, and sometimes you may find that you need to update your language preference. If you wish to change the language in which your exam will be delivered or in which you’ll receive communications, you can make a request.

Here’s what you need to know about language changes:

  • Language change requests can be requested anytime if you are not already registered for an exam.
  • If you have already registered for an exam, language change requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • We encourage you to submit your request early. Requests made closer to the exam date may not be able to be processed.
  • To submit a request, simply send a written email to info@ndeb-bned.ca with your request and details.

Important Notes for NDECC Candidates

If you are ready to take the NDECC, there’s an important exception to be aware of. Language change requests for NDECC candidates will only be accepted if submitted before registration opens. Once registration has started, language change requests cannot be considered, so make sure to finalize your language preference well in advance.

Why We Offer Both Languages

Offering both English and French options ensures that the NDEB process accommodates the diverse linguistic needs of candidates. Whether you’re more comfortable in English or French, you can be confident that the NDEB is here to support you in your preferred language, helping you navigate the steps toward certification with ease.

If you need any assistance with language preferences or have questions about the process, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!
