NDEB® elects new President

On October 22, 2022 Dr. Amarjit Singh Rihal of Winnipeg, Manitoba was elected President of the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) at the Annual Meeting. Dr. Rihal succeeds Dr. Jim Richardson who held the role of President for the past two years.

A graduate from the University of Manitoba college of Dentistry 1995, Dr. Rihal has been involved with organized dentistry for over 10 years. He is the 2013 Manitoba Dental Association past president and served as Chair of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC) for five years. He is a fellow of the International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the American College of Dentists. Dr. Rihal has an interest in CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing) dentistry and has served on multiple committees involving technology and student mentorship and is an international lecturer for various organizations.

Dr. Rihal joined the NDEB Board as the representative of the Manitoba Dental Association in 2011. Since that time, he has served the Board in various capacities including as Chair of the By-laws Committee and most recently as Vice President/Treasurer from 2020 to 2022. In addition to his responsibilities as a Board member, Dr. Rihal has been involved in the implementation of the NDEB Virtual OSCE and participates in question development workshops for various examinations. “Dr. Rihal has brought a breadth of experience to the NDEB”, stated Dr. Marie Dagenais NDEB Executive Director and Registrar. “I look forward to working with him in this new role”.

Dr. Rihal is currently a principal partner in a large group practice in Winnipeg, Manitoba and a part-time didactic, and clinical instructor at the University of Manitoba.
