Follow-up to the May 2019 ACJ
On May 11 and 12, 2019 the NDEB administered the Assessment of Clinical Judgement (ACJ) for the first time electronically across the country and in select international locations.
Before the May 2019 administration, the NDEB did comprehensive testing of the delivery mechanism and examination software for electronic examinations including two successful deliveries of the Dental Specialty Core Knowledge Examination (DSCKE). Unfortunately, despite this preparation, unanticipated technical problems with the third-party software occurred.
During the administration of the May 2019 ACJ some participants experienced delays in accessing the Assessment and other technical issues with the electronic platform. Considering the technical issues faced by participants, the NDEB commenced an investigation and have since determined that the results of the May 2019 ACJ are valid.
While the circumstances that occurred during the administration of the ACJ were beyond the NDEBs control, the NDEB recognizes that the technical issues related to the electronic platform may have affected some participants performance and the NDEB will be communicating with participants directly about their options.
The technical issues experienced during the May 2019 ACJ will not impact the NDEBs ongoing plan to transition all paper and pencil examinations to electronic delivery.
