Changes to the Exam Registration Process
We are changing the registration process for the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK), Assessment of Clinical Judgement (ACJ), and Virtual OSCE. The new process will include a second registration period. During this period, candidates can register or transfer if seats become available because of withdrawals or increased exam capacity.
Why is the process changing?
We heard from candidates that it can be time-consuming continually checking for an exam seat once registration is full. The new process gives candidates a specific time to check for available seats. This means candidates will no longer need to monitor registration throughout the day.
What You Need to Know
1. Two Registration Periods
There will now be two registration periods:
First registration: Opens on a set date and time and closes when all exam locations are full.
Second registration: Opens about 6–8 weeks before the exam. Candidates may register or transfer if seats become available because of withdrawals or increased capacity.
2. Transfers
Candidates may transfer between exam locations only when registration is open. They may not transfer between registration periods.
3. Withdrawal Fees
Withdrawal fees for the AFK, ACJ, and Virtual OSCE are also changing:
Before the registration deadline, the withdrawal fee is 50% of the exam fee.
After the registration deadline, the withdrawal fee is 100% of the exam fee.
The fee for an approved withdrawal for medical or other unforeseen exceptional circumstance will not change.
When will this take effect?
The changes will take effect September 1, 2026. They will apply to future AFK, ACJ, and Virtual OSCE examinations.
