Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric Dentistry is the branch and specialty of dentistry concerned with providing primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health diagnosis, care, and consultative expertise for infants and children through adolescence, including those of all ages with special care needs.

The NDSE in pediatric dentistry tests your knowledge and clinical competence in pediatric dentistry at the specialty level.

Format and Content

The examination will be administered in two, three-hour parts of equal weight.

The examination consists of a mix of single and multiple answer multiple-choice questions, and short constructed response questions that assess knowledge and application, and case-based questions that assess diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.

Canadian pediatric dental specialists are required to have broad knowledge and skills in fourteen domains. The blueprint found in the NDSE Protocol presents the fourteen domains and the approximate percentage of the entire exam covered by each domain.
