NDEB’s Public Representative Completes Six Years of Service

December 7, 2016

As 2016 approaches an end, the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) thanks Ms. Margaret Wheaton, the NDEB’s Public Representative, for her dedication and service.

Ms. Wheaton began her term as the NDEB’s Public Representative in 2010. Through her six years of service to the Board, Ms. Wheaton actively participated on the NDEB Examinations Committee where she “felt [her] role was to represent the public in their dental care by seeing fairness and transparency was provided to the practitioners who would be providing that care”.

Ms. Wheaton received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S.P) from the University of Saskatchewan in 1962. As a pharmacist, Ms. Wheaton devoted the majority of her career to working at Leslie’s Drug Store in Biggar, Saskatchwan. Today, she continues to work as a relief pharmacist in community pharmacies in west central Saskatchewan. An active member of the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCP) and Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) she has served on numerous committees including Chairing the SCP Licensing and Policies Committee and the SRNA Complaints Committee. She is currently the public representative for the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CDSS). Mrs. Wheaton also recently received an Honorary Life Member Award for contributions to the profession of pharmacy in Saskatchewan.

“Ms. Wheaton’s experience as a Public Representative for the CDSS and the SRNA has carried over in her role at the NDEB as she provided valuable input. She has given the Examinations Committee a point of view that extends beyond the dental profession and the NDEB has benefited greatly from her contributions”. Dr. Mary Ann Wiseman, NDEB President.

In October 2016, the NDEB elected a new Public Representative Ms. Polly Pachu.
