NDEB Moving Away from Paper and Pencil Tests

December 12, 2017

In October 2017, the NDEB Board approved a pilot electronic administration of an examination.

The electronic administration of the September 2018 Dental Specialty Core Knowledge Examination (DSCKE) is the first phase in a five-year rollout plan which has all NDEB paper and pencil examinations administered electronically by 2022.

Moving to electronic delivery of examinations and assessments has many advantages including increasing examination security and providing better quality images. Electronic delivery will also improve access to examinations, especially the DSCKE, by expanding the locations where examinations are offered.

Throughout the rollout period, the NDEB will regularly update its website with information regarding electronic delivery. Visit the Electronic Examinations page to view the proposed rollout schedule, frequently asked questions, and other information as it becomes available.
