Why are the assessment fees going up?
As 2019 approaches, participants in the Equivalency Process will see changes to the fees for application and assessments. Each year, the NDEB looks at the costs associated with creating, delivering, and scoring the assessments and aims to set all fees on a cost recovery basis. Costs associated with materials and appeals for the Assessment of Clinical Skills (ACS) increased by 30% in the last year, resulting in a significant increase in the fees for ACS for 2019. Because the NDEB does not receive funding from external sources to support the Equivalency Process, it must establish its fees so that each assessment is self-sustaining, and one assessment is not supporting the delivery of another.
Where does your assessment fee go?
When you pay for an assessment, the fee is spread across different areas related to the assessment. The illustration below shows how your ACS fee will be distributed across areas related to the ACS.
